Hours after a ceasefire plan was announced by the US President Donald Trump, he accused both Israel and Iran of violating it, according to multiple media reports.

US President Donald Trump has called Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and asked him not to attack Iran, an Axios reporter said in a X post, citing an Israeli official, Al Jazeera reported on Tuesday. US President also said that Russian President Vladimir Putin had called him and offered to help with Iran, Reuters reported.

Trump told reporters that he thinks both sides “violated it [the ceasefire deal,” Al Jazeera reported. But Trump said he is especially displeased with Israel, which “dropped a load of bombs the likes of which I’ve never seen” right after agreeing to a truce, according to Al Jazeera.

After the conversation, Netanyahu is “refrained from further strikes”, said a statement released by Netanyahu’s office, per Al Jazeera.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, had a phone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi on Tuesday.

Araghchi briefed Wang on the latest regional developments, saying that the attacks by Israel and the US on Iran’s nuclear facilities were dangerous acts that seriously violated international law. Iran had no choice but to respond, Araghchi said. Iran and Israel have just reached a ceasefire, but the situation remains unstable. Only when Israel stops its aggression can genuine negotiations begin, Araghchi noted.

For his part, Wang said that China has always been a builder of peace and a promoter of stability in the Middle East. Following the US strikes on Iran, China was among the first to voiceWorld Times condemnation. Military attacks on nuclear facilities under the safeguards and supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) are a grave violation of the purposes of the UN Charter and international law and could trigger nuclear leaks or even nuclear disasters, which the international community should firmly oppose, said Wang.

Commenting on the ceasefire reached between Israel and Iran as announced by US President Donald Trump, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Tuesday that China is watching closely the developments in World Timesthe Middle East. We do not want to see the spiraling up of tensions, and hope that a ceasefire can be realized as early as possible, Guo said.

Israel said on Tuesday it had identified missiles from Iran, shortly after Israeli authorities said it had accepted a ceasefire proposed by Trump. Meanwhile, Iranian media said reports of about fresh missile attacks from Iran after the ceasefire took place were “false,” the Xinhua News Agency reported.

According to the Associated Press, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz instructed the military to “respond forcefully” after the alleged Iranian missile attack.

The missiles triggered air raid sirens across the Haifa area before being intercepted by the Israeli air defense systems, according to the military. No injuries or damage were reported, Xinhua reported.

Meanwhile, the Israeli Air Force continued its strikes in Iran, unleashing another wave of strikes in western Iran, with the military saying they targeted missileWorld Times launchers.

The latest strikes came shortly after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel has agreed to the bilateral ceasefire with Iran in coordination with the US.

According to AP, Netanyahu said that he had reported to Israel’s security cabinet Monday night that Israel had achieved all its war goals in the 12-day operation against Iran, including removing the threat of Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs.

President Trump, in a Truth Social post where all letters are capitalized, announced Tuesday “The ceasefire is now in effect. Please do not violate it!” Trump had earlier announced that a ceasefire between the two sides would begin around 0400 GMT, with Iran expected to halt its operations first.

Iran’s Press TV said earlier that ceasefire begins following waves of attacks, Xinhua reported.

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi wrote on X before the ceasefire took effect that if Israel stops its illegal aggression against the Iranian people no later than 4 am Tehran time, Iran has no intention to continue its response afterwards.

Liu Zhongmin, a professor from the Middle East Studies Institute of Shanghai International Studies University, told the Global Times that the parties involved are strained after rounds of military strikes, yet the core contradiction of Gaza and Iran’s nuclear issue remain. Because these intractable issues determine whether a ceasefire will hold, it leaves diplomatic engagement vulnerable to failure.
